Young Character Writing Prompt

This is a prompt that I did with my writing group recently. Take a main character from a very young age group - say, 3 to 5 years old. Put the character into a situation that might be easily navigated by an older character, but is perhaps more difficult to grasp from the perspective of a very young child. Write for 15 minutes about what the child sees, hears, thinks, and does in the situation. You can select a situation from the list below, or make up your own.

Situation:
A child goes to the library, where he must be very quiet.
A child goes to a first doctor's appointment.
A child goes to the grocery store for the first time.
A child goes to a theme park for the first time.
A child goes to a wedding.
A child goes to an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Hi, I really love some of your writing prompts and have written some nice pieces based on your familiar story from a different perspective idea - loved the step-sister one. I'm just wondering if you do any writing for older audiences, say teenagers, and if you have any tips or experience in that field.

Most of my writing is for younger kids, from about 4yrs to 12yrs, though I do like to participate in NaNoWriMo (November of each year) to explore writing for an older age group. I like the discomermaids blog at http://discomermaids.blogspot.com/ - which is geared towards writing for teens. I also like to keep up with www.teenreads.com. Thanks for reading my blog and best of luck with your writing projects!
